sparatic starting 700 1990

I need to know if there is a check valve in the fuel system or some type of fuel relay other than the fuel pump relay. The car starts good if the car hasn't sat to long, but if it sits 8 or 10 hours sometimes it won't start. So fat I have put a fuel pump and fuel pump relay, distributer cap and rotor replacrd one of the relays hooked to the overflow bottle. I also put a new coil wire on. Does anyone have any ideas what the problem might be? By the way it is a 1990 740gl regina rex non turbo.
