760 Rod noises 700 87

Saturday was a bad day for me. I was just rolling down the road (35-40, no boost) when out of no where came *bang bang bang bang bang bang*... At first it was more like detonation(which it could very well have been) and then it got really loud. It didn't overboost, hasn't been overheated since i bought the car (but thats only been about 3000 miles... i got it from someone who overheated it and blew the headgasket).

SO its gotta come appart(but probably won't until after exams).

So here comes the question(s). I'm assuming that i'll have to get new rods, and obviously i'll want the 91+ rods. Where might i procure a set that won't cost me what a new engine would? (local dealer sells em for around 750 a set) I found a yard that would sell me used rods, but then, they're used ;)

Also, anyone got any tips? i've put a head on before, and i know a few people i could get to help me if i got in a pinch, but are there any small things i need to look out for?

Thanks yall!

-k.
