Car won't start! 200 1989

To make a long story short I decided to replace the front engine seals over the weekend. Tore it all down and got it all back together today. Got back into my car (89 240) and could not get it started. So now I am stranded (its parked in the garage) and puzzled. It ran fine before the job. Engine turns over when starting but nothing happens. I have checked for spark at the spark plugs- its there, pulled the belt cover off again and checked that everything lines up top dead center- it does, belt turns, smell gas in engine bay when trying to start so I assume that pump is working, checked fuse on fender- its good, checked fuses in panel- all good. I am puzzled because I did not mess with anything electrical except removing the distributor cap, and disconnecting negative battery cable while doing job. I did use kerosene to clean the oil off the front of the engine (area under belt cover due to bad cam seal leak) and may have gotten something I should'nt have wet. Could I have damaged a sensor- any on the front of the engine, or distributor (cap and rotor changed last year and still look good)? Where should I start looking?

Glad to see the board back up.

Thanks for any help.
