Fuel pump replacement 700 1988

I am planning to replace the main fuel pump on my 88 740. It looks like one end is a hose clamp fitting and the other a screw on flare type fitting which will require two wrenches (one holding the fitting on the pump and the other to undo and then reattach the pipe fitting). Is this correct? If not, what am I facing. Any tips, suggestions, other parts I may need. Is it necessary to worry about stopping the fuel flow (like you do on a 140 or 164 fuel injection model). All suggestions cheerfully accepted. Thanks
