Dead AW71 resurrected! Yee Hah!! 700 87

Last week I posted a question about my hard shifting AW71 Automatic Tranny. I thoght it was dead.

However, Kerry Schutt, (may he live a long and healthy life) gave me a site to look at that saved my butt. He told me of his woes and gave the cure.

I tore apart my entire Valve body (With manual borrowed from Volvo of London) cleaned it found the small and worn valve ball, replaced it reassembled and hey presto!! a great shifting fresh feeling tranny. total cost? 65 bucks. Estimate from dealer? 2000 or more. They've never opened the manual they lent me. They always replace the whole unit. Great care needs to be taken upon disassembly however its an easy job.
