Puff of Black Smoke 200 84

No, not from the bong!! From my 84 turbo 240.

When I really get down on it in first gear there is a little puff of smoke that comes out the tailpipe right as I push in the clutch to go to second gear. I am not sure if this is oil because usually oil smoke is blue or white. I don't beleive that the oil is coming from my turbo because it is water cooled, but maybe I am wrong. I have been told that the black smoke might be from carbon buildup burning off. Any body have any good ideas?
