Engine exchange 200 1986

Is the engine block of the 4cyl 740 drilled the same as the 240 block ? I've got a friend who wants to put the 740 engine block in his 240DL. Will the 740 block work ? I've heard there may be a problem with oil passages around mounting the rear distributer from the 740 to the front of the engine to fit in the 240DL.
