I have a 1985 Turbo wagon, which runs slightly hot. It has never entered the "red zone," but in warmer weather (with or without A/c) the guage will read about 9:30 to 10:00 o'clock. On the road, at cruising speed, it runs about normal. On cooler days, it runs normal (9 0'clock or slightly below). Work done on the car so far includes a new thermostat and removal and rodding of the radiator (which did reveal some blockage). While the radiator was out, I ran the car with a new aftermarket radiator, and it performed exactly the same. The guage readings above are after the radiator work was done. Prior to that, it would approach the red on hot days. There do not appear to be any signs of coolant loss, no excess white smoke from the tailpipe. So far, advice I've been given includes running the car without a thermostat, to just "not worrying about it." I'm not real happy with either suggestion. Any ideas?
