all lights on instrument panel on..... 700 1990

On my 1990 740 GLE B234F engine, when cranking, all but a few of the instrument panel lights are on and the engine won't start. This all happened after a failure of the timing belt due to a broken bolt for the oil pump pulley mount. Is there a reset or sensor in the ignition system that would cause this ? There doesn't seem to be any damage to the valve train as I was coming to a stop at idle.
