Need Help ...Broken hose! on a B23F 200 84

On the passanger side of my B23F engine there is a Very large hose, running from under the radiator to the left side of the engine. it is ribbed and can flex looks like it is made out of aluminium or steal.

It is Broken ! My question is What is this hose, what does it do and do I have to replace it ? If so How ??? It looks like it just takes air from the out side and cools the exaust manifold and dosn't actuly go into the engine.....CAN ANY ONE HELP!
