oil viscosity 900 92

I’ve got a question about oil viscosity. I change the oil In my wife’s ‘92 940 GL (134k) every 2k - and have always used castrol GTX. I use 20-50 in the summer (we’re in dallas, tx) and 10-40 during the winter months. However, I always seemed to notice a bit more engine noise (pistion slap?) with the 20-50..... Should I not be using the heavier oil? I’ve got a couple of cases of the 20-50 left, and I’d hate to abandon it! If you guys think it’s too thick for my application, do you see any harm in me adding a quart of 20-50 to three quarts of 10-40 or 10-30? Or is this a no no? Thanks much!

BTW, during my last oil change, I used 10-30 and was very pleased with how quiet the old sweedish mule ran...Mebbie I'm on to something!
