how to refurbish wheels 200 1987

i recently bought a set of four alloys on ebay. They're of the GL variety and they came complete with the center caps (not bad for $100). therein lies the problem, i think i got what i paid for. the wheels are in good working condition, but cosmetically, they leave somthing to be desired. they have some corrosion on the faces of the wheels and the center caps. i was wondering if anyone had any tips on home refinishing of these wheels. i'm not interested in refinishing them to factory condidtion, i just want to make them more presentable.
