Weird Condensation Problem 700 1989

Hello,

My 740 16V GLE has been sitting for a while (waiting for an engine) and the other day I popped the trunk lid to get something out of the car-I noticed that there was ALOT of condensation on the underside of the lid. There was so much that it rained down on the floor of the trunk upon moving it slightly. What is causing this? Bad weatherstripping? I'd like to take care of this problem before it develops into a rust issue.
