Here's one that has us stymied: Our '85 740 wagon (non-turbo) will on occasion suddenly lose power and start lurching forward erratically. My wife usually drives the car, and fortunately, she has been close enough to the house that she can get back home. The car doesn't actually stall out, and it idles fine. Then, a couple of hours later you can go out and try again and it does fine. You just never know when it is going to happen. Can be a dry or wet, cold or relatively warm (never had the problem before october; we live in Maryland, by the way). We have taken it to two mechanics, and of course, it drives fine when they take it for a drive. They say that it will have to 'do it' for them to know. We are shelling out today to get fuel injectors cleaned, fuel filter replaced, and plugs changed. Somehow, I don't think these things would cause the symptoms that the car is displaying. Any opinions?
