cruise control and rear wiper problems 200 1986

hello,

my recently purchased 86 240 wagon's cruise control doesn't work and neither does the rear windshield wiper. are these things hard to fix and are there many possible culprits? (are the problems hard to diagnose?) i just ordered a haynes (green book) repair manual and i look forward to learning all about this baby! thanks.
