selecting an alternator 200 1987

Th charging system is kaput in our 87 244DL. I'm taking the current alternator in to get tested. Brushes look good. Would appreciate feedback on recommended size for a replacement alternator. Current one is 55 A (pun unintentional). There are no unusual electrical demands in this vehicle.
