interesting noise then rev up 700 89

Hey,

Lately when Ive been driving around at night, I have noticed a click sound then the engine revs up a little. It only seems to be happening when its cold outside...sub 40's (which freezing to us californians). Im not sure how long its been doing that, but I was just wondering if its something that the engine normally does or if there's something up with my car. It also seems to be comming from the right side facing foward.
