As you'll all know by now, i live in aus! :o) Just thought i'd share that.
Anyways, my volvo 740 has (as far as i can tell) all the origional relays, etc, in it. Now, looking at my haynes manual, the bottom (closest to the fuses) relay should be the "window winders/electric fan", i'd believe this, if, say, it clicked when i pressed the windows, or, perhaps if the "electric fan" worked in ign position only (it works in acc position...) as the relay doesn't click until it is in the ign position. What i wanna know, is, what does it really do? I mean, it gets hot...after 20 mins of driving, it is getting to the point where it is too hot to touch for a period of longer than 5 seconds......Even if i don't use the fan it gets hot, i didn't use the windows, and it was still hot. it is an 88 model, but i still can't see what the relay really does, besides converting valuble voltage into heat......
Also, the "impulse relay" (which is the "fuel pump relay" or something, right?!) gets quite warm too, actually, considering it is in a plastic container, it gets hot. rather.
What type of running problems does the impulse relay (big white plastic one at "front" left) cause when it is stuffed?
One last thing, is it just me, or has anyone else put a decent stereo into their volvos and a sub, etc, and found the car seems to - for some ungodly reason - run better with the music up really high? Maybe it is just me.....
