Broken or worn out 240 keys? It's not that hard, just $15 and 15 minutes, for a good locksmith. 200

So "we" broke our last 33yo key for the 240 in half, by using it to not open the Isuzu Rodeo Sport. On a Sunday morning.

Forums etc consensus was that "from the VIN" was the only way, and only a few dealers, nobody saying which ones, lol, still could look up the code and order keys from HQ, wherever that is now, and it would take days to ship. $100-140!

There's a couple online companies stating they'll do it for $80 if you email proof of ownership etc., but again days to ship!

A couple say it can be done by a locksmith, but oh man it's dicey!

Was anticipating problems. Many problems.

So I call my local brick & mortar lock and safe company, couple miles away, and he says bring it by, it'll be $15, and $5 for more copies.

It's Sunday morning, mind you.

Was nervously rude with questions about his choice of brass Ilco X140 VL8 instead of a steel blank, the thickness, wideness, the seemingly complex extra stuff on the new key, but darn if it didn't work. Better than the old one ever did.

Fixed the "mushy ignition position detents, not springing back automatically and thus running the starter continuously until you back it off" issue we've had since 2007.

Fires the trunk lock. Which the old key never did.

Anyway, especially for Northeast Los Angeles / Eagle Rock / Pasadena folks, California Lock and Safe, at 5718 York Boulevard, for decades, and likely decades to come, is the place to get key old car key replacements, even if it busted in half.
