Oil pressure sensor / Oil pump 700

Last week the oil pressure warning light took it time after starting, to go out. Later in the week the light wanted to stay on if accelerated steadily. Car didn't sound like it was oil starved, but I only drove 5 miles each way to work. If I gently got up the speed the light would go out. Today the light stayed On so I didn't drive. 234000 miles and I'm ordering abd pan gasket and new pump and pump seal. Pulled the car into my shop and was going to do an oil pressure test to verify the pressure. No such luck. My gauge didn't have the correct adapter thread. Changed the oil filter and light still On. So with the oil pressure sensor removed again I decided possibly the oil pick-up screen might be clogged or the pressure control valve might be stuck. Not sure if the oil pressure sensor oil galley is right after the pump, I decided to blow 100psi of air pressure into the threaded hole for the oil sensor. I removed the oil fill cap so I could hear if the oil bubbled. It certainly did bubble and I pumped air into the the oil galley for 1 min. in long burst. Put everything back together and the oil light goes right Out and pressure after I turn the car of is still present for some time after the car is turned off. Still going the removed the pan and freshen up the engine with an new oil pump since I'm just starting to get an oil pan leak. I believe what happened was either the screen was cleared of many mile of general build up or the pressure control ball was sticking. Either way if your light is flickering and the oil sensor is know Good, then get you sensor removed and blast that oil pick-up screen with 100 PSI of air pressure through the oil pressure sensor location hole. . Like back flushing a filter system. Boy did that oil in the pan bubble. Give it a try. Tomorrow I will be draining the oil and running through a fine screen just to see what might have loosened, returning the fresh oil back into the engine. Disparity Conquered
