What is This? (Yet Another WIT Thread - Sorry) 700

Sorry for having done the photos incorrectly. I have not used this forum's clunky software in at least five years.

I have a wire with rotting insulation; bare, golden (brassy-looking) wire is exposed. It is on the firewall between the engine and the brake booster. I have never had to look at this before, so I have no idea what it is.

[Finger on the connector in top photo, wire shown from other side in second photo.]

Also - I NAVE NO SPARK AT THE PLUGS. I have fuel. I have a good Odyssey battery. The car cranks fine, but will not catch. Pulling the #1 plug and observing the electrode while wifey cranks it over shows zero life in the patient.

I have not yet tried the coil wire. I need to buy a test light, I guess. I think I am going to be doing a lot of testing of individual wires in this thing. The tag expired in October of 2015. It was sitting up for at least three months before that and has not been started since due to this issue. I am more willing to mess with the electrical stuff now, so here I am, at Brickboard again, hat in hand, smiling and begging for assistance.

Good to be back, but not under the no-start circumstances. TIA for any responses!

Wade
