Hi, folks.
My 1994 b230FT engine is at the machine shop to be checked (and now overbored), but I kept the oil pump at home.
I am looking through the Green Book, and don't see the oil pump clearances listed. Maybe I have the wrong green book? I have the green book 30871/1.
"If you remove your pump, note that clearance between oil pump gear teeth should be between 0.15-0.35mm, and axial clearance between the end of the gear and a straightedge across the face between 0.02 -0.12mm." is in the FAQ
I do think my pump is worn, as it is measuring .30 for the one and .16 for the other, but I am wondering if these values are accurate for all model years, or if it maybe was pulled from a greenbook published for an earlier version of the engines.
Lastly - The clearances are a bit high for my pump, and the Volvo pump is $375 at IPD (Not sure about Tasca). Aftermarket (I don't see a brand) from IPD is about $120, and one from Melling (supposed to be higher flow) is $180.
Does anyone have recommendations on the brands? I don't want to cheap out and regret it, but I don't see a need for a $375 Volvo pump.
Cheers!
(Now to figure out how to get this car up my driveway... 6 foot rise in just 15 or so feet haha. Probably a tow truck)
