Fuel Filler Neck Question/Opinion

Sorry this is a general non-Volvo question but I'm not comfortable with just anybody's opinion. You know that little circular spring loaded "trap door" gizmo at the upper end of the fuel filler neck, just inside the gas cap, that you poke the gas pump nozzle through? Suppose that were to fall off and drop down into the filler neck somewhere. My assumption is that the cap still fits good and tight. I also assume the lost part is either resting on a screen or against the roll-over valve. Hopefully not jamming the roll-over valve in a way that the ball won't close if the car gets upside down.

How concerned would you be if it was your car?
