A friend contacted me today concerning a fuel line leaking on his 92 745.
This is on the line that runs between the tank and the fuel filter. It is a green plastic line and the leak is where the line comes down from the top of the tank. He can probably get to the leaking area.
What are the options in making a repair to this line? If I remember correctly this is an 8mm line (?). Can he cut the line and after cleaning the undercoating off simply slip it into a 4" section of 5/16" fuel hose and then tighten clamps on the hose on each side of the splice? or...
Will a 5/16" compression fitting tighten enough to secure the line and handle the pressure? and...
If the whole repair goes south can the plastic line be removed from the fuel sender and the fitting at the filter and be replaced with 5/16" fuel line?
Thanks for any insight and suggestions.
