throttle position sensor 96 960 900 1996

My 1996 960 sets a trouble code for throttle position sensor. I replaced the throttle position sensor with a new Bosch unit and it still sets a code, but it is odd the way it sets it. If I clear the code it will reset after I start the car, but it takes about 10 seconds for the light to come on. If I don't clear the code and start the car, it still waits about 10 seconds for the light to come on. Any suggestions will be appreciated as the way it is currently it will not pass inspection.
