Blower motor lubrication with drill holes - BS, or good idea? 200 1993

I have my dash apart in my 1993 244 for other business and thought I might give the idea of lubing the blower motor, because it has started to whine on the first 2 settings.

I have seen some posts, but have not seen much supporting trials.

This one suggests just drilling 2 holes through the front of the white housing.

This one suggests drilling through motor housing.

Anyone have experience with this?
