Auto transmission dipstick tube 200 1993

OK. I already know not to try to remove the tube from the pan as the connecting mechanisms have a life of their own.
Problem is that it's leaking there. On my last 240 I had the same problem and so I had it welded and tested for leaks before putting it back on.
Back to the present car...last summer I applied some Seal All and that held off the leak for a while. Now it's back and the pan gasket is leaking as well.
My plan is to cut the tube (and splice is a piece of rubber hose with clamps upon reinstallation) below the starter bolts, take the pan off, and somehow fix the tube leak. Just wondering if there's an alternative to welding.
Thanks.
