Anyone cut off their oil drainback tube shorter to ensure good operation?

If so, did you pull it out the top, cut it off, and jam it back down?

I realize that there is some kind of clamp inside the block, can we just ignore the clamp part and have it shorter?

Oh....and mine was blocked solid by the way. I had to use 1/8 rod to ram the coke out, however, now there's only a 1/8 passage in there for the gasses to clog up there again, if I continue to use the clogged end.
