I think it's time for a long-deferred project. I need to replace the clutch and throw-out bearing on my 1967 Duett (B-18 mated to M40). While at it, the rear main seal should be replaced.
I have a few questions...
Without a lift (ie on 4 sturdy jack stands) is this something I even want to consider doing myself? If I can borrow some time on a neighbor's lift do I really want to consider doing this myself?
I have a superb mechanic that does work on my other cars. I'm happy enough to have him do the job if that turns out to be the wiser choice. What's considered a reasonable time frame (ie labor hours) for the job?
Should the flywheel be refaced?
Either way, I'll source the parts. Thankfully it's been a while since I bought (other than filters) parts for the car. I do want the best available (ie Sachs) parts. Open to recommendations for easy mail ordering to NY.
Sincere thanks for any advice...
