MAF Heat Failure---How? 200

Hi,

So the airbox thermostat being stuck ducting hot air into MAF sensor causes it to fail after awhile, I was wondering if anyone knows how the sensor fails from the heat, does the wire break, do the electronics on top fail etc. I ask beacuse I was wondering if I could devise a workaround (cool the AMM unit) because if you're running on alcohol it would be very good to have the air preheated all the time. Otherwise I'll just forget about all this hot air and protect my precious precious Bosch baby.
