Hi Brickboarders
My 1990 740GL wagon is running on three cylinders. No spark on #2 cylinder.
Frogged the spark plug wire with one from my 1991 745, still no spark. Pulled off the distributor cap and noticed that the contact for #2 was coated in motor oil. I have read a few threads on oil seals leaking on the distributor and have ordered a new cap and rotor and the seal kit. Going to attempt to replace the seals.
I did not see if anyone who had oil in the cap caused it to short out and kill the spark. Is this an expected consequence of oil in the distributor?
Also going to clean the flame trap, that is probably overdue.
Thanks
Greg
