Hey everybody.
I'm looking at this GLE 740. It's an 89, and has ABS, but has this very skinny booster, unlike my 90 with a very deep booster.
I know my 90 has ABS, 8" around "deeper" booster, big rotors, and calipers so big that 15" wheels won't mount to the front.
I didn't look at the calipers on the 89, but I believe it has a set of 15" alloy wheels on it, which means smaller calipers and rotors. The booster is also a very skinny kind.
The brakes are spongy as can be, to the point I'd rather not drive it across town to get it home. Step 1 is of course flushing fluid, failing that I'd swap the Master Cylinder and booster from my wrecked 740T.
Why were there two different booster/caliper setups in two cars a model-year apart that both had ABS? Are they interchangeable?
Cheers!
