par for the course: Chinese radiator lasts 4 years & 60K miles 200

As expected, a recently installed Chinese radiator only lasted 4 years and 60K miles on a 1990 245. As soon as I get a specific Nissens model that will last the test of time, I will buy that one. Until then, I'll continue to go with the recommended Chinese radiators that only last 3-5 years tops. I'm just continuing to hear too many complaints on the Nissen models on these boards.

My factory original radiator lasted 22 years and 347K miles, which was great. It broke at the top of the plastic snout, where the hose met the plastic. I've read on this board that this is a common location for such a break. Even better than the duration of the radiator was the duration of the factory water pump. That one lasted 406K miles, and, unfortunately, along with the radiator, decided to start a small leak in the past few weeks. It started leaking at the top of the pump where the outlet met the head. 406K miles on an original factory water pump - simply amazing. I'll be going with a Hepu and an OEM gasket on this one, all ordered. There's no core deposit on water pumps, so I'm keeping the factory original one and I may get it rebuilt down the line. We'll see what happens w/the Hepu.

As for racks, I'm on #4. Each one has lasted in the 100-120K mile range. The present one is a Cardone rebuild. The next one will be a Jorgen rebuild. No more Cardone products as I've had wayyy too much problems with their rebuilt caliber products.

As for alternators and starters, I'm on #3 on both. All are local rebuilds. That I like.

Anyway, an FYI to all. Oh, and to Uncle KGV, happy 'Caturday to you....
