I was recently hit with an intense gas smell from my 94 940 sedan.
I found a leak on the front side (towards engine) of the fuel filter. It was a pretty solid drip of fuel coming off the connection point at the front of the filter.
I knew the filter needed replacing and have the parts if I can get it off successfully. I may have aggravated the situation by dosing the area a few times w/ pbblaster in preparation for the filter change. I've read some discouraging stories about doing this procedure.
I do not have the filter to pump connector line and am hoping I can use the old one (and that this is not the cause of the leak). This part (from Volvo) is a bit pricy and haven't found an aftermarket part available. Does this part give out on old, weathered 940s?
While under the car I noticed the fuel lines from the pump back to the tank (2 small sections) looked pretty beat up and the clips were very rusted and some were broken. No leaks though. I am guessing this is not uncommon. Any idea where I can get fuel line & what size it should be?
Thanks! I am a huge fan of the board!
