Restoring plastic turn signal reflectors... White paint?

The front parking light/turn signal light units are the original Cibie two-bulb plastic units.

It looks like the plastic reflectors were originally silvered, but 99% of it has disappeared so now the amber bulbs sit in black plastic cups.

What is the best option for restoring the reflectors?

I've never seen silver paint that is very reflective.

Some online research suggests that white paint is the best option.

Or should I just leave a sleeping dog lie?

Any thoughts, experiences or suggestions are very much appreciated....

FWIW the car is an '82 245 Diesel wagon.
