Mating AW7OL, AW71L Torque Converter to Transmission 900 1994

I have a hard time getting the torque converters slots into the transmission dogs and have messed up the front seal on the second installation. I have done six or 7 front seal replacements over the years while replacing the rear main seal in the engine and had the 2nd transmission front seal leak today just after installing the transmission.

I must be doing something wrong since I lift and insert the torque converter many times before getting the slots and dogs to match. I have been tying lines to the front of the trans. mounting holes and hoisting the transmission vertically and then lifting up the torque converter, setting it down gently and trying to get a match.

There must be an easier way. I can't imagine anyone on the Volvo assembly line having such a difficult time getting a match between the slots of the torque converter and the transmission input.

Any ideas on an easier method and one where I won't dislodge/wreck the front transmission seal?

Thanks
