Blew Fuse After New Fuel Pump Installed 900 1993

Today I replaced the fuel pump and filter in the 1993 Regina non-turbo B230 with 184K miles and when I tried to start the engine, I blew fuse 11 (fuel pump). I thought maybe I had caused a short installing the pump so took it out (it looked okay) and ran it directly across the battery for a couple seconds and it ran fine. I then put the pump back, replaced the fuse, and the car started up and ran fine in a test drive. The car has never blown fuse 11 before.
Since I could find nothing I did wrong, should I be concerned? The pump is genuine Volvo from FCPEURO. I suppose I could monitor the current draw to make sure I am not running close to the 15A it is fused at. I am hoping (wishing?) that the pump had been in storage for awhile and just needed to exercise itself. We took it for a 15 mile drive and it ran great.
