Hi,
I have a 92 940 sedan with an issue with what appears to called the cover molding (3538625). This is the piece of v-shaped rubber that goes around the entire rear window and just presses into the the gap between the actual window and the body. (I'm not referring to the seal that attaches the glass to the body.) This part appears to be primarily cosmetic but it would have some role in keeping out crud and water. Does this make sense?
Anyway, about 6" of it is popping out across the top. I can press it back in but it keeps coming out. It's probably worn or has lost its "grippiness" due to age. It kind of seems like it has grown in length and now is too long which is forcing it out.
I found the above parts number on a parts diagrams online but they say it is no longer available. This kind of seems like a generic product that an auto glass shop might have a coil of? If not, any suggestions for keeping it in. One thought I had was to shorten it slightly at the end (which is on the bottom) to get rid of the extra length but the corners are so aged I don't think they would ever adapt to the new location.
Thanks!
