I recently had my steering rack replaced after my mechanic saw my old one was leaking. I ordered a Cam type from E-Europarts.com which was remanufactured by Maval Mfg Inc out of Twinsburg OH model# 9016M. Upon the test drive my mechanic almost put her in the ditch because the steering was so touchy- sensitive- "on steroids" as one BB post put it. At install he had to reroute some of the lines because apparently it wasn't the right type. It tracks perfectly down the road as he aligned it prior to test drive. He says he centered the rack using a ruler measuring from both ends. I also had the steering knuckle replaced because it was catching a bit. I have been driving it and am getting used to the new feel, but I really have to pay attention that I don't overreact (my wife will not drive it). Do you think this is a problem with the rack or did he do something wrong on install? Some have said it's just because I was used to an old rack and had to apply more pressure, but my 1994 940 feels like the old 240 steering. I read about a pressure control valve in the pump, but wouldn't that be coincidence? How do I check to see if this is the problem? Thanks for any help you can give.
