No brake lights. Hinge wiring? 200 1985

Getting ready to put my 'new' '85 245 onto the road and found the brake lights don't light up. Haven't checked bulbs yet, did notice that the black wire in both hinges are broken. Everything else works, wiper, turn signals, fog light, running lights, just no brake lights. Suggestions?
