Cracked TD 05 Housing 700 1987

Developed a nasty exhaust manifold leak on my '87 744Ti M46 (232K).

Tore everything apart to find leak and reseal exhaust side of engine.

I have replaced all of the other gaskets on the front and intake side; Might as well do them all and I know that The Orig owner Permatexd the oil drain tube going into the block.

I found the crack while removing manifold and turbo from car, tearing downthe turbo to clean and inspect.

I think the car developed a lean condition and caused this.
I'll have to check the fuel system. Serviced parts are ITP/sock/sender & wiring harness, MP.Have no records on the FPR.

Check for intake leak, etc.

Head is original and untoched. I have rebuilt some of these heads for around $150.

I could go on but the real questions I have are: how far do I go? Was it a lean condition or something else? I don't want to fix the engine and have it re-eccur.

Stay completely stock or go to newer manifold?
Take it further and get a '91 newer block w/ newer manifold/TD04?
Will not go 16V turbo or advanced like that.

I'm having a real hard time finding parts for this car.
Do I try to keep correct parts or go ahead and "modernize"?
