240 auto transmission dipstick tube removal AW-70 200 1982

Being that the best thread I could find on this subject was 10 years old, I figured I would post this in hopes of getting a bit of info.

Here is the original thread: https://www.brickboard.com/RWD/volvo/1028265/220/240/260/280/auto_trans_dipstick_tube_removal.html

Nobody ever clarifies if the dipstick nut on the pan is standard or reverse thread. I see no reason why it would be reverse, but I figured I'd should ask to be 100%

I have put God and my entire 200lb weight against my beefy wrenches (counter clockwise, and another wrench as a counter) to get that thing off....after soaking it in PB for 24 hours and even using a propane torch to get it to budge, but with no luck at all. After 33 years of sitting there, it's not coming off, and I'm afraid of breaking something.

The tube mounting flange bolt further up has been soaking in PB as well, but I am unable to break torque on that one also. Seems my only option at this point is to cut the tube with a hacksaw and join them with a section of hose and clamps when I'm done. I have read about that on this site.

Unless anyone has any other ideas, I'm going to go with cutting the tube and re-clamping. Hopefully it will hold tight against leaking.

By the way, I am doing this because my kickdown cable broke, and since I'm there, going to do a filter change and fluid flush too.

Thank you for any input or advice!
