Our 1989 245 wagon:
I know this is just ‘daydreaming”, for now, but I am considering painting the brick, again. The last paint job was close to the original color, grey, a more metallic grey that is, but it’s been several years and I’m just thinking about it at this point. The issue is, do I just paint it same as last time OR, there is a color that I sort of like but it would be a radical change. Keep in mind the body is great, no dents or dings.
Even the dash has no cracks or obvious wear. The interior is pretty much black so most any color would work. Last paint job I did not paint the door jams as it was too close a match. OK so the color is: 'Orange Revolution metallic', (Honda paint code yr576) OR another color close to that color is “Blaze Orange Metallic” (paint code YR552M); it’s a little hard to describe because its not really a “true orange”; rather its sort of a, hmmmm, 'burnt mango orange'?? I saw the first color on a 2014 (I think) "Honda FIT". Apparently the 2nd color is almost the same. I would have to look into both of them closer.
Plain old orange itself, to me, sounds not so good, but the orange I saw on that Honda, was really nice, and I can see the words “burnt orange” in describing it. It would be a VERY radical change, to say the least. Seeing as how the body and interior is great, I feel it would work. Of course I would also paint the door jambs for that kind of color.
I know there’s good argument to NOT paint the brick a color like that, and 'common sense' would say “just keep it grey“, but, do I have to use “common sense”?¿ Hmmm.
