Please identify Elec. Component on 88 760 700

Hi,

Can anyone tell me what the electrical/vacuum component is that resides in a bracket around the Coolant Overflow tank? It sits to the front right side of the tank. It is circular with a white top, two wires come out of clear potting, go to a connection and then the wire takes off on the right fender in a harness and back across the firewall. The side of the circular component has a vacuum line attachment where the line then goes to the right fender and back to a "T" against the firewall right above the valve cover. The bottom of the component is black and less than half as wide as the white top. I found the vacuum hose was cracked and bad and have just replaced it. I wonder what this component controls or does.

Thanks in advance,

760
