I just finished a 3000 mile round trip in the 97 960 with 195k miles. Most of the trip was run at 80+mph and at least 5 hours of the run around 90mph when we got back to Texas. RPMs were sustained at 3000 to 3400. The engine consumed 1 qt. each way. Is this acceptable on the Volvo six cylinder or is it indicative of internal wear?
