I bemoan my 1990 740's lack of cup holders just about every time I drive the thing.
I just discovered that the '91-'92 center console arm rest/cover contains cup holders that slide out.
1. Can this be made to fit the '90 center console storage area even reasonably well?
2. Are the cup holders actually usable at this age, or would the plastic simply crack or split under the weight of a full water bottle or 32 oz cup of iced tea?
3. If these do not work at all, can the center console from one of these two years be swapped into a 1990?
Thanks!
EDIT: Here is one of many that I am looking at right now. It is for a '91-'94 940. Can this be made to work? I would like to know ASAP so I can start bidding on one. I was asking about 740 to 740, but really, ANY 700-900 series car - will they fit a 1990 storage compartment?
