240 Central locking/unlocking only works using key 200 1987

From what I have read being that the key will lock and unlock all doors, but when using the drivers door plunger it only locks or unlocks the drivers door. I have a broken wire in drivers door? The fuse is fine. So before I dig in to the door I figured I would ask.
