road force balancing 200 1989

Last few months I have had all my tires (fairly new Michelins) balanced twice, at different places, both places "respectable". Just couldn’t shake a "vibration " between 50-60mph. Not a super-horrible vibration but enough to concern me.

The brick had been gone over to try to find the source of the vibration but to no avail. If the vibration was profound enough we might have found it, but it was just enough to be a bit annoying, almost "livable". Finally I had someone suggest to me I get a “road force” balance, whatever that is-but I soon found out..

I did find a place after searching the ‘net, and luckily, in my area. (An "independent" BUT Just happens to be contracted by Toyota, of all things.) Well, that ‘road force vibration’ found that every tire was off balance enough for their machine to pick it up whereas the other places didn’t find the tires off balance .

The road force machine is apparently very sensitive. They checked it first without pulling off the old weights, every tire showed out of balance. (They let me watch, btw) Then they pulled off the old weights and checked it again.

A few weights were put on as needed, one tire didn’t even need any weights altho it did have one on it, which was pulled off and left off.

Final results--no more vibration! What can I say? As I mentioned, that form of balancing is pricey-but worth it to me in this instance.
