Hi all,
I've got an 88 780 (black on black) that is in pretty good shape body wise and interior wise. However the engine bay is another story.
The b280 engine that is currently in it is strong and runs well (or will run well once I replace the starter), but the wiring harness is trash and the exhaust Y-pipe is rusted and needs replacement. I can find a replacement Y-pipe and likely can find a wiring harness, but that's going to be hundreds of dollars by the time it's all done.
Because the b280 isn't "universally loved", the resale value for the car is not very high, and adding more money into that engine configuration won't increase it very much. And yes, I could part the car out and likely make more money that way, but it just seems so wrong to kill a running 780.
I have been offered a b230 engine that is in great shape at a price I can't refuse. Has anyone out there converted a b280 Bertone to a b230 or b230ft configuration? I know the car came with either engine configuration from the factory, but are there any "gotchas" that I'll run into if I try to put the new engine in (and yes, I know that I'll need all the electrics that go with the b230)?
