Hi! New to the forum here. My wife acquired a 1990 Volvo 240 last summer with 19,000 miles, now at 31,000. I've done several things to this car to get it running well--replaced the dead in-tank fuel pump, replaced the faulty fuel pressure regulator, tune-up to include fuel filter, throttle body and IAC valve cleaning, AT fluid change. Recently did some soundproofing to the doors. Anyway, the nipple from the inlet line to the EGR is quite rusty. I thought I would tackle that next by removing the EGR valve and outlet pipe and cleaning everything. I believe the manual states clean this at 60,000 miles then every 50,000 thereafter. So, I'm under on the mileage but way over by years! I'm anticipating a battle. Other than having a new intake manifold gasket handy and spraying the EGR valve and connections generously with penetrating oil, any words of advice? I'll probably change the oil separator o-ring since I will be in the neighborhood assuming I get the EGR valve off. Thanks.
